Know that I have many influences. If you had a web page I'd make you one of my links because everyone I come into contact with has some sort of influence on me. I am LaToya Renea' Smith (period) and my voice is the musical proof.

Quiana is from the dirty like moi. She was the in the top 49 in the American Idol that Ruben won and she is now on tour with Clay. about 2 or 3 years ago, this was the woman I would beg my mom to take me to places like Mitchell's on the Market and Vista Riverside Grille to see.

Eleanora Fagan

You probably know her as the venerable Billie Holiday. I'm reading a lot about Billie, her biographies, autobiography, etc. While I've never been big on Billie, I love reading about her and she influences by creative and interpretive perspective on music. To me she is proof of how the body dies but the spirit of music lives on. She would often say, "Jesus Christ, His Clarinet, and His Orchestra." And I can truly relate to that quote. 

Toni Morrison Society

If you have every heard any of my original songs are the way I change lyrics to make them my own, then you would know how much I enjoy expressing my feelings through my metaphorical lyrics. My favorite author of all time is Toni Morrison, so if you've ever read the  Song of Solomon, Jazz, Beloved, Paradise, Love, Sula, or The Bluest Eye,  then you would see why. At any rate I encourage everyone to pick up one of her books.
